Kayla Armstrong

“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Mrs. Armstrong joined City First Christian Academy in 2013 after receiving a bachelor’s degree in education at Western Oregon University with an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) endorsement. She loves working with our student Warriors one-on-one and appreciates the small class sizes at CFCA, knowing she’s able to adapt her lessons to best-suit each student at their own level. She is passionate about sharing her love for reading, writing, and storytelling with her students. In 2020, she was honored to accept the assistant administrator position as well to continue to serve a school that she loves from a different perspective.

In her English classroom, students learn to challenge themselves as readers by thinking about how to the text connects to the real world and to them, personally. Students are taught to think critically and communicate what they are learning. In writing, students study various genres of writing and improve the quality of their writing through small steps. After a year of small steps, they are able to look back at their writing to see how far they’ve come.

Mrs. Armstrong is married and has two pets, a cat named Sammy and a dog named Ridley. She loves to be active outdoors, hiking, playing soccer, bicycling and running. One of her favorite hikes is South Sister at night and seeing the sunrise from the summit. Reading and playing video games helps her connect with her middle school students.
