Amy-Manton

“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.” Proverbs 9:9

Mrs. Manton loves being able to impart to her students how to “live, love and lead” like Jesus. She also loves the enjoyment of teaching students to read and write in a family atmosphere.

She has a Diploma of Music (piano) from Prairie Bible College. At the University of Lethbridge, she double majored in music education and early childhood education. At the University of Oregon, she earned a master’s degree in elementary education with a focus in reading. She has taught elementary school since 2008 and joined CFCA in 2017.

Mrs. Manton is married and has a 3-year-old daughter. She is trained as a concert pianist and has lived in Canada, Morocco, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia. She has climbed the highest freestanding mountain in the world, ridden an ostrich and rafted the Nile.

“I love being able to interact with my students daily and give them a passion for Jesus, the Bible and things that are truly important.”

READING & WRITING
Students will learn strategies to read with fluency and accuracy and understand what they read. She also focuses on writing to improve handwriting, writing simple sentences with correct punctuation and writing simple paragraphs and journal entries that describe a variety of topics.

MATH
Students learn many math fundamentals, including the basic values of 100s, 10s and 1s, simple sums and simple subtraction, shapes, fractions and how to tell time and count money. Another important concept is understanding measurements—capacity, volume, length, height and more. The class uses all of these strategies to learn how to solve math problems mentally.

BIBLE
In the first quarter and a half of the year the class focuses on the Old Testament, including some of the most important stories. The rest of the year focuses on the New Testament: Jesus’ birth, Jesus’ ministry on earth, Jesus’ death and resurrection and what that means for us and how we can live like Jesus. The class memorizes weekly Bible verses that relate to the topic of study.
