Jaymie Starr
Fifth Grade Teacher
Mrs. Starr joined the CFCA in the family this year, 2022, after teaching in both the public and private sectors for over 10 years, teaching grades 5-12 primarily. She completed her Associate’s degree in Biblical Studies through the University of the Nations in 1996 which also included an international teacher training program in Tyler, Texas, in 2000. In 2020, Mrs. Starr completed her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Counseling through Ecclesia College in Springdale, AK. In 2021, she started her Master of Education program but has put that on hold so she can focus on her family and developing the 5th grade program here at CFCA.
Mrs. Starr’s goals in teaching are to instill of love of learning in her students and inspire them to desire to understand the world around them and how it works along with God’s beautiful story of Creation and how He is continually working actively in our lives. She hopes to give them the tools and resources necessary to become life-long learners and seekers of truth.
Before moving to Oregon, Mrs. Starr and her husband served as full-time missionaries with Youth With A Mission all over the world and were based out of Tyler, Texas for over 10 years. In 2005, they moved here to Oregon to Youth Pastor and serve as elders at Christ’s Center Church in Junction City.
Mrs. Starr is married and has four children (two adults, two teenagers), plus one by marriage, and two very lovable labs. She loves to travel, especially for missions starting with her first international mission’s trip to Grenada, when she was 17, followed by Australia, Cuba, Jamaica, Nepal, Mexico, England, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Namibia, Ethiopia, and most recently; Poland and Ukraine. Her family loves to hike, swim, ski, paddleboard, kayak and explore the beautiful state of Oregon. Her favorite foods are Asian, Indian, and Mexican.
In 5th grade, we will visit Thompson Mills (the last operating wheat mill in Oregon), the Albany Carousel and museum, the Living Rock Museum in Brownsville, the OSU Marine Hatfield Science Center in Newport, and much more! Mrs. Starr loves to incorporate S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Technology) into her classroom through a variety of hands-on projects and challenges including, “Design-Your-Own-Robot”, paper airplane design & competitions and a unique marble Maze Team design competition.
